Pickle Weed

Because the bay contains brackish water (a mix of salt and fresh water), plants that live near the water must be adapted to dealing with the salt. Pickle weed accomplishes this by storing the extra salt in the fleshy leaf tips. As the salt concentration in the plant grows, the tips of the plant turn from green to red.
