During the museum’s BioSITE program children from local school get the opportunity to study the ecology of the Guadalupe River in San Jose. During the 2006-2007 school year I am also working with several of the classes that are participating in the BioSITE program to help them create a quilt about what they are learning. On April 20, 22, 23, and 24, 2006 over 300 visitors to the Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose, California helped in constructing this quilt for the Biosite Program. Visitors helped stamp fabric, dye squares, draw pictures and sew. This quilt celebrates the Guadalupe River which runs by the museum.
